Lyla Harrod

Director

A Danvers native, Lyla has twelve years of experience working with youth in Danvers and Salem. As Director of DanversCARES, she is responsible for developing innovative youth programming, family education and community engagement opportunities guided by the positive youth development model. With a background in coordinating grant-funded after school and out-of-school time programming via the Danvers YMCA and LEAP for Education, and community/labor organizing with the Service Employees International Union, Lyla brings creative approaches to empowering youth and has a strong commitment to social justice and community building. Lyla serves as the Chair of the DCF Cape Ann Advisory Board, and as a Fellow for Salem State University's Center for Childhood and Youth Studies. Lyla holds an undergraduate degree from The George Washington University in Communications and a Masters degree in Human Services from Springfield College.

Danielle LaRocque

Middle School Youth Coordinator

Danielle LaRocque is in her fifth year as a health education teacher at Holten Richmond Middle School in Danvers, MA. She is a graduate of Endicott College with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Creative and Art Therapy and a graduate of Cambridge College with a Master of Education in Skills Based Health Ed and Social-Emotional Learning. She serves on a variety of committees that serve to improve the academic and personal success of her students and colleagues. She is the assistant varsity softball coach at Danvers High School. Danielle is the vice president of MAHPERD, Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education Recreation and Dance, for the Health Division.
